Now, if there is something we love more than seeing a new nation or city, it's driving there. Second to nothing is the pure delight of starting a road journey to find an offbeat treasure or a secret corner. Behind the wheel, I feel free. I release myself. I get life. We have driven about 100,000 kilometers in more than 20 countries during the past ten years. Road vacations have often appeared on the Bruised Passports website from the early days. Most beautiful road trips in the world though it's difficult to pick one, everyone wants to know about our best road trips worldwide. Driving in other nations presents such various and contrasting sensations; so, the most challenging thing to accomplish is to decide which drive we prefer. Rather, we created a roster of our top road excursions worldwide. This list features our preferred driving adventures from all across the globe. More importantly, we have compiled the highlights of every one of these encounters. A word of advice: all these road excursions will provide you excellent chances for photography; if you haven't visited these locations yet, a modest to strong dosage of jealousy is advised.
1. Canada: Alberta
For last, the best? Perhaps Umm. We would advise Banff and Jasper national parks in the Canadian province of Alberta in a heartbeat if you were looking for a location merely for the scenery and vistas. If you could find yourself here in August, the month we traveled, you could expect a picture-worthy view at every kilometer of this road journey.
Every road trip enthusiast dreams of driving from Banff to Jasper on the Icefields Parkway, Highway 93. We made three trips over the course of three days, taking pictures of Lake Moraine at various times of the day because we thoroughly enjoyed it.
You may find grizzlies on the highway; there are many opportunities to simply stop and picnic by stunning lakes or trek on slopes covered in carpets of exquisite flowers.

2. Bavaria: a lesser-known aspect of the Alps
Unquestionably one of the most beautiful roads to go on is the German Alpine Road (Deutsch Alpenstrasse). Not only that, but the villages, landmarks, and scenery one passes by on this road journey are truly reminiscent of a fairy tale.
Although many visitors travel to the Swiss Alps, we highly advise everyone to visit Bavaria instead; it's far less expensive, offers breathtaking views, has many mountain ranges to climb, and has the greatest beer in the world, period.
Seeing the Neuschwanstein Castle, the towns of Ettal and Oberammergau, and hundreds of emerald green lakes along the road was our best experience from this trip.
3. Northern Ireland: Traveling throughout a place inspired by fairy stories
We made plans to make a quick road trip in Northern Ireland right after we arrived in London. The moment was well before Game of Thrones threw popularity ratings of this little area of the United Kingdom off-target.
What we witnessed was a region dotted with verdant woods, coastline drives straight out of a Nat Geo video, and events we still find immense delight in.
Our road trip in Northern Ireland was like traveling over a magical place, from the adrenaline surge of crossing the Carrick-A-Rede rope bridge to the thrill of seeing Giant's Causeway up close. We were awestruck by the unexpected appearance of elves, pixies, and goblins around every corner.
4. California and Nevada: there, the sun never pauses to shine.
Following nearly ten years of travel, we at last arrived in California in 2016. Given our love of road trips, we decided to travel along the Pacific Coast Highway from San Francisco to Los Angeles, heading inland into Death Valley National Park, the epitome of hedonism, and finishing our journey in Las Vegas.
Driving around California's coast was fantastic; a breathtaking coastline, great cuisine, nice people, plenty of natural beauty, and wildlife—what's there not to like? Most beautiful road trips in the world add the gloss and splendor of Los Angeles, and you have a well-rounded vacation right away. The finest approach we could have taken was to finish our four-month journey in North America in opulent luxury at Las Vegas.
5. Costa Rica: paradise for bird enthusiasts
From rich green rainforests to dozens of kinds of flora and wildlife, Costa Rica is really a nature lover's dream come true. Everywhere you turn, you see vegetation. Coffee is another reason Costa Rica is well-known.
Like there was ever a place for more there; I had a terrific time learning more about coffee roasting and tasting. Savi loved drinking excellent coffee while staring out at the jungles and volcanoes in the background.
After enough of nature, visit the Papagayo peninsula buried in the nation's North West. This spot is the ideal refuge for a few days of leisurely beachside relaxation. Though the locations are guaranteed to be amazing, the drives are not really remarkable. But Costa Rica is somewhat costly for what it provides; hence, occasionally it might be a bit disappointing.

6. Spain: For siestas and fiestas
Just mentioning Spain makes one picture being seated on a beautiful beach drinking great sangria or munching on scrumptious tapas while under the hypnotic control of the fluid flamenco dancers. We believe that August is the ideal month to travel across Spain, as fiestas—festivals—are very frequent in several places all over the nation. We drove from Feria De Malaga in the south to the Tomatina festival in Bunol, engaging in a lot of anarchy in Granada, Valencia, and Barcelona.
7. Leh Ladakh: An incredible Indian road trip
Ladakh is among the greatest when it comes to dramatic settings and breathtaking panorams. Particularly if you're driving, this almost secret area in the northernmost state of Kashmir is difficult to get to.
But the beauty of the journey is that you live and breathe the real India on your route to Ladakh. This road trip is among the most unforgettable events of our lives, with little towns, the nicest of neighbors, and breathtaking (if rather perilous) driving. Although Ladakh will always remain in hearts, driving to heights of over 18,000 feet is no mean accomplishment. We are delighted we did.
8. Australia: The Great Ocean Road
For good reason, this is one drive you would always see highlighted in all the periodicals. The state of Victoria's famous 243-kilometer road stretches out amazing vistas of the ocean for tourists.
The Great Ocean Road winds along the coast and leads through breathtaking scenery and cute animals such as koalas and kangaroos. Most beautiful road trips in the world we strongly recommend that anyone planning to drive in Australia should also consider bushwalking along the Great Ocean Walk.
9. New Zealand: For aficionados of coffee and the environment
To be honest, we had become tired of everyone urging us to travel to New Zealand, as there was nowhere on Earth with landscapes as breathtaking as they were in the country of kiwis. Early in 2016, we took the risk and traveled halfway across the world to drive from the North Island to the South Island.
Although New Zealand has some of the most beautiful landscapes on earth, we wouldn't venture as far as to state they are unmatched. New Zealand presented a varied range for nature enthusiasts, from the postcard-like breathtaking landscapes in the South Island to the gorgeous beaches of the Coromandel coast and hot springs of Rotorua in the North Island.
What we loved about it. You are in for a treat if your passion for coffee matches mine. One claim we can make with conviction: New Zealand has THE BEST coffee available worldwide.

10. Mexico: Of brilliant flamingos and colored lagoons.
Beautiful beaches in blue—Check. Fun-loving residents - Check. Savory cuisine: Check. For what else could someone want? Well, how about a healthy dose of flamingos and colorful lakes buried in a little Yucatán peninsula town?
We're rather happy we hired a car to see this area of Mexico even though the trip wasn't as amazing as the destination itself. From the lovely sandy beaches of Playa Del Carmen to the magnificent architecture of Merida, we loved every single minute of our visit in Mexico.
11. Baltics: The Joyful Unexpected Shock
Now this is one road trip not seen in many of the "best road excursions" available on internet listings. Having seen this area of Europe, we believe that more and more people must pass via Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
Though the culture, history, and people of these nations made our vacation unforgettable, the drives might not be as wonderful as in New Zealand or Ladakh.
Driving around the Baltics is like riding in a time machine: from ancient forts to lanes covered with history, you will find great appeal in these nations. An introduction to the customs of this area would be ideal from the fairy-tale cities of Tallinn and Riga.
12. South Africa: The perfect mix
Let South Africa be the only road trip you ever do in your life. From Johannesburg to Cape Town, we drove almost 4000 km and almost certainly found everything a tourist and photographer could wish for: animals, beaches, beautiful drives, vineyards, pleasant people, vibrant cities—you name it, South Africa has it.
As we did, this is also an excellent excursion to do with friends. Most beautiful road trips in the world after Sid (Savi's brother) arrived in Johannesburg from Delhi and the two of us arrived from London, the following three weeks were total anarchy. We are eager to go back, and we have fallen in love with South Africa.
13. Croatia: Taking you back in time
Among our first road excursions in Europe was the one from Zagreb in the north to Dubrovnik in the south. We were a little wary, particularly given not much had been written about this schedule. All of our questions and worries vanished the moment we set foot in Zagreb.
We rank Croatia as among the most beautiful nations in Europe, as we had such an incredible experience seeing fairy-tale towns, breathtaking green lakes, and unspoiled natural beauty.
From the battle-ripped walls of Dubrovnik to the immaculate waterfalls in Plitvice National Park, Croatia appeals to everyone who arrives. The breathtaking seaside drive from Split to Dubrovnik serves as the ultimate highlight.

14. Iceland: Volcanoes, glaciers, and panoramas
These days, we dislike having favorites. Still, our road trip in Iceland comes in among the top three travel adventures we have had. Driving around Iceland is like sitting behind the wheel and seeing a National Geographic documentary come into view.
There is something for every nature enthusiast out there: majestic waterfalls, breathtaking views, naturally erupting geysers, and uncommon species are just waiting for you. And Iceland will pamper you if your interests are in climbing ice cliffs, trekking volcanoes, and investigating subterranean lava caverns.
15. Italy: Great St Bernard Pass
For movie buffs, this route is a must-drive since Michael Caine's classic opening sequence of the original Italian Job immortalized it. Apart from certain safety enhancements, the Lamborghini Muria starts the movie dancing over the Great St. Most beautiful road trips in the world bernard Pass, which is still as unspoiled and magnificent as it was back in 1969.
It is the classic Alpine mountain pass since its combination of pure drops, hairpin curves, and tunnels opens views across the Alps. Furthermore, the beginning in the little Italian city of Turin is just capped by ending up in the jazz town of Montreux on the beaches of Lake Geneva.
